Illustrations I work with Dr. Lori Francis, a professor and researcher in the Biobehavioral Health Department at The Pennsylvania State University, to create stories on health for 52 preschool classrooms in the greater Central Pennsylvania area. The overall goal of the research project, the Healthy Bodies Project, is childhood obesity prevention through health promotion in the preschool classrooms, at home, and within the community. Each preschool classroom in the program delivers our curriculum once a week, featuring a healthy fruit or vegetable tasting and additional supplemental materials and activities such as these stories. The books provide the classrooms, largely underfunded, with materials on healthy eating, emotion regulation, exercise, and deep breathing to highlight healthy practices in an entertaining, relatable manner for little 3 and 4 year olds.
The illustrations I completed to go along with the words of the stories are included below, however, the text is not included in these images. You'll have to make up a story as you go :)
As a component of my Schreyer Honors College Undergraduate Thesis I wrote and illustrated four books about vegetables. The series will be added soon :)
